If you discover a new song, you might be curious about the music video—whether it’s anything like what you imagine it to be. Fortunately, you can get an idea on the Shazam app. This article will show you how to enable video previews on Shazam.
How to Enable and Disable Video Previews on Shazam (iPhone)
As with any other feature on Shazam, enabling video previews is a quick and straightforward process.
Here’s how to get started:
Open the Shazam app on your iPhone. Swipe up and tap Settings in the top left corner of your screen. Scroll down to the Preferences section and toggle Video Preview on. You will now see video previews (if available) when playing Shazams.
Remember that if you play a song via Recent Shazams, you’ll have to tap anywhere on the tile except for the Play button to open the song’s page and watch the video preview. If you press play, the song will start playing. If that happens, tap the button in the bottom right corner of your screen.
To disable video previews on your iPhone, follow the steps above and toggle Video Preview off. You might consider doing this if you want to save your iPhone’s battery.
More importantly, Shazam’s iOS app doesn’t have the option of enabling video previews over Wi-Fi, so it can consume a lot of mobile data.
How to Enable and Disable Video Previews on Shazam (Android)
The process is slightly different on Android. This is what you need to do:
Open the Shazam app on your phone. Swipe left and tap the Settings icon. Tap Video Preview and check the circle next to Enable. You can also choose the Enabled over Wi-Fi option to avoid wasting your mobile data.
Even though Shazam’s Android app has a data-saving option for video previews, you may still want to disable it. All you need to do is follow the steps above and, when you get to the Video Preview section, tap the circle next to Disable.
Shazam is packed with useful functionality. In addition to discovering music playing around you, you can identify music playing on your Android phone, too.
How to Watch Complete Music Videos
Please note that video previews are just snippets of a music video. Although you can play full tracks if you connect Shazam to Apple Music, Spotify, or a different music streaming app, you can’t play full videos.
If you want to watch the entire video of a song, select the song you want and scroll down to the Video section. If available, you can tap the video to go to YouTube, where you can see the whole video.
Watch Music Video Snippets on Shazam
Shazam allows you to discover more than just songs. When looking up a song on Shazam, you can play the video preview to see if you’d be interested in watching the full video.
If you’re keen, you can switch to the relevant streaming platform right from the Shazam app—no need to manually switch apps or find the music video on YouTube.
