How to Reset a Dell Laptop
Microsoft includes a convenient reset tool in Windows 10, so resetting your laptop will only take a couple of clicks.
From the start menu, search for “reset” and select Reset this PC. Under the Reset this PC heading at the top of the window, click Get started. Choose either Keep my files or Remove everything, and follow the prompts on-screen to reset your Dell laptop.
How to Reset Your Laptop With System Restore
If you don’t want to do a hard reset, you can do a soft reset, like System Restore. If you have an available Restore Point, you can turn the time back on your PC to a specific date, undoing any changes made to your PC after that date.
From the start menu, search for “system restore” and select Create a restore point. Click System Restore at the top of the small, newly-opened window. Follow the prompts on-screen, and restore your PC to a Restore Point if you have any available. Windows will, by default, create automatic Restore Points, so it’s likely you will have at least one. After selecting a Restore Point, click Scan for affected programs at the bottom of the window to get a sense of what will be changed on your computer.
